Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce and Legislative Affairs, Government of Telangana, urged the Pollution Control Board and the CII Green Business Centre, to work in tandem, and encourage more companies to go for GreenCo rating.
He was speaking at the the GreenCo Summit 2025 -- “Beyond Commitments: Scaling Net Zero Action for 2030 and Beyond” -- organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry GreenCo Council, here on Thursday.
The CII GreenCo Council supports organisations in integrating sustainability into core business strategies through the GreenCo Rating System, a comprehensive framework that assesses performance across key areas such as energy and water efficiency, waste reduction, renewable energy adoption, and green supply chains.There are more than 1500 companies are actively working on CII GreenCo rating framework.
Jamshyd N Godrej, Chairman, CII Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre, said the eventreflects the growing maturity and seriousness with which Indian industry is embracing its climate responsibilities, turning environmental stewardship into a driver of innovation and competitive advantage.
Suchitra K Ella, Vice President, CII, in her special address said that “Sustainability is no longer optional—it is fundamental to building resilience, enhancing reputation, and creating long-term value.”
Delivering the theme address, Pradeep Bhargava, Chairman, GreenCo Summit 2025 and Chairman, CII GreenCo Council, spoke about the urgent need to move from commitments to concrete, measurable action. He said,“The GreenCo framework has guided more than 1500 industrial units and companies to think beyond compliance, embed sustainability into their operational and strategic DNA and achieve significant monetary benefits amounting to over Rs 5,100 crore by implementing Green Projects as part of GreenCo assessment and rating system.
“As we look toward 2030, it is imperative for every business to move from ambition to action—to translate vision into verified, measurable impact. This is not just a moral imperative, but a strategic one, essential for future-ready, responsible growth.” he remarked.
States such as Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh lead the GreenCo movement, accounting for a majority of the 1000 plus GreenCo-rated companies, highlighting strong regional commitment to green industrial growth and climate action.
