Karamtara Engineering, a key player in the renewable energy and transmission line sectors, plans to raise fresh capital of ₹1,350 crore to fuel business growth.

The company plans to relocate its solar tracker piles and piers manufacturing facility to a larger site at Gundale in Maharashtra.

The new facility will not only accommodate increased production of solar products but also be versatile enough to manufacture other products like wind angular towers.

Additionally, Karamtara intends to expand its structural steel profile production in Gundale, complementing its existing capacity at Unit Profiles in Palghar.

The company will also increase its galvanizing capabilities in the region by setting up a new galvanizing facility in Gundale, in addition to its current galvanizing units in Tarapur and Palghar. The expansions are aimed at meeting the growing demand for solar mounting systems and other renewable energy infrastructure components, said the company.

The estimated project cost will be about ₹193 crore and the company has obtained part financing of ₹152 crore towards the cost of this project. Karamtara plans to fund these projects through its internal accruals and aims to complete them by fiscal year 2026.

The company is also relocating its solar torque tube manufacturing facility from Tarapur, Maharashtra to Bhuj, Gujarat, as part of its plan to expand capacity. It is actively securing financing for this project.

Critical enabler

Currently, Karamtara operates eight manufacturing facilities, with seven in India and one in Italy, boasting an installed manufacturing capacity of 5.67 lakh tonnes per annum, including 3.74 lakh TPA dedicated to solar products.

The capacity is equivalent to about 13.2 GW of solar infrastructure. The company has the largest galvanizing capacity of 2.58 lakh TPA in solar energy sector.

The expansion will offer significant benefits, including better cost control, optimised product design and enhanced customer service.

By increasing its capacity and introducing new innovations, Karamtara is positioning itself as a critical enabler of India’s solar infrastructure sector, while also expanding its reach into global markets, it said.
