Guntur is likely to be the new capital of Andhra Pradesh instead of region around Vijayawada planned earlier.
The Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has stated this during his tour in Guntur on Wednesday.
This changes the earlier proposal to locate the capital around the Vijayawada region.
The land availability near Guntur and particularly near Amaravathi is stated to have prompted the move to locate the capital at Guntur instead of Vijayawada earlier.
He is stated to be considering developing the capital structures on the Krishna river front.
