The public sector HLL Lifecare has opened ‘Moods Planet,’ an exclusive retail showroom for condoms in Kochi that also allows customers to get tips about a healthy sex life.
‘Moods’ is a leading contraceptive brand in the premium segment and is available in 22 variants. The HLL is a leading producer of condoms globally and makes around 200 crore pieces of condoms a year.
“The standalone store is less about selling condoms and more about disseminating information,” M Ayyappan, Chairman and Managing Director of HLL Lifecare, said in a press statement. “We want to personally connect with our customers and remove the taboo attached to purchasing condoms.”
The store staffers are trained to answer queries about sexually transmitted diseases and reproductive health. “We want the store to be the go-to place for curious youngsters who may otherwise opt for wrong sources for information,” Ayyappan said.
The first outlet of Moods Planet was opened at Thiruvananthapuram followed by one in Goa. Outlets will be opened in the metro cities.
Moods Planet store encourages customers to walk in without feeling embarrassed about visiting a ‘condom shop’ and pick up contraceptives of their choice as it is also an information centre for everything related to condoms and healthy sex life.
At Moods Planet, people can also buy various other HLL products, such as Velvet female condoms and Saheli non-steroidal oral contraceptive pills.
