The start-up ecosystem in Kerala is promising to evolve furiously. In 50 hours flat!

This is what In50Hrs, a leading idea-to-prototype event, aims to deliver by logging in here soon.

The start-up caravan, titled ‘In50Hrs Thiruvananthapuram-1st Edition,’ will roll into Technopark here on May 3 and park itself in until May 5.

In50Hrs provides a big opportunity for idea-smiths, developers and product designers in Kerala and southern Tamil Nadu to come together and work on ideas and build working prototypes over a weekend.

The prototypes are demoed in the ‘demo evening’ to peers and a panel of jury.

The event is being spearheaded by Vijay Anand, brain behind In50Hrs and The Startup Centre, Chennai, and a well known leader in the Indian startups space.

LENDING SKILLS

“We have a space, dedicated for the task for 50 hours and summon in some terrific mentors, fellow entrepreneurs, coders, designers and product managers. All shall lend skills to breathe life into that thing that started off as an itch, and a passing moment.”

If you are a dreamer who has a business idea in Web or mobile space, this is a golden opportunity – a weekend to figure if that idea is really worth all that trouble, he said.

If you are a coder or designer looking to get involved in some rather challenging, edgy programming work, then here’s an opportunity – and everyone has got 50 hours to make it work.

Babu Mohanan, well-known entrepreneur, mentor and an angel investor in the local startup community, welcomed the event and said that this announced the arrival of startup ecosystems in the State.

LOCAL WELCOME

“We have been watching the growth of startup accelerators in major cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi etc, but somehow these groups were a little reluctant to enter Kerala. So it is important that they get all support from entrepreneur community here, which will encourage other similar groups to start their activity here.”

Shameer Thaha, another local entrepreneur, said: “I’m really excited and looking forward to having In50hrs in Thiruvananthapuram.

“This will be a great opportunity to identify talent, nurture budding entrepreneurs and build up the ecosystem.”
