The Telangana Government has asked the district collectors to get in touch with the families whose kin are trapped in strife-torn Iraq. A fresh round of violence erupted in Iraq in the last two weeks, leaving scores of Indian immigrants entrapped.
Key details The Government has set up a helpline at the Secretariat and asked the district collectors to circulate the information in their respective districts. It asked them to collect the details such as name, passport number, location in Iraq and company in which their kin are employed.
“This information is vital for evacuation of such employees. We need to alert the Ministry of External Affairs,” said NV Ramana Reddy, Special Secretary to Government, in a statement on Tuesday.
