The CPI(M) here on Saturday passed a resolution at its 21st congress condemning the violence in Kolkata civic polls in which several party workers were wounded. The party accused the ruling Trinamool Congress Party of rigging the elections and advancing the elections with a malafide intention.
Politburo member S Ramachandran Pillai, who briefed the media, said the Mamata Banerjee Government in West Bengal was adopting such undemocratic practices and policies, but the CPI(M) with the support of the people of the State would fight them.
In response to a question, he said the party general secretary would be chosen on Sunday and he urged the media to refrain from speculating on the issue. He said the party had discussed threadbare all the factors affecting the performance of the party in recent times and also the corrective measures to be taken to make it face the future challenges.
