The Odisha Government today decided to defer introduction of e-auction for distribution of licences for liquor shops by two months.
“The State Cabinet today has approved the proposal for allowing extension of renewal of the existing license of liquor shops up to July, 2013,” Chief Secretary B. K. Patnaik told reporters here.
Patnaik said the Cabinet took the decision to defer its plan to introduce the e-auction, in view of a directive of the Orissa High Court which ordered to maintain status quo on the granting of licenses to Indian Made Foreign Liquor and Country Spirit shops.
“In the meeting the Cabinet decided to continue the earlier practice of allotment of liquor shops to vendors for two months,” Patnaik said adding that the State Government will take a decision in this regard in a later stage according to further order of the High Court.
