Energy Efficiency Services Ltd has entered into an agreement to retrofit appliances for energy effciency in the law courts across Andhra Pradesh.

The project will be first implemented in all the court buildings of Visakhapatnam on a pilot basis and then extended to all the 12 districts in the State.

EESL will invest ₹6.89 crore to retrofit all the court buildings with efficient appliances without the government having to spend any money. It will also take up the maintenance of the equipment. The payback will be made through savings achieved through the appliances.

The project is expected to save about ₹2.2 core a year and 2.5 million units in courts across all the districts through the energy efficient devices.

The High Court at Hyderabad entered into an agreement with EESL at the office of Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission in the presence of Saurabh Kumar, MD of EESL.

APERC Chairman G Bhavani Prasad said, “APERC, while giving fast approvals for energy efficient initiatives, also focused on distribution of 9 watt bulbs instead of 7 watt ones, to provide better lighting.”

Andhra Pradesh has taken a number of initiatives in partnership with EESL to retrofit street lights with LED systems, power up homes with LED lights, and to provide energyefficient fans and other equipment.
