In a bid to equip urban planners and policy makers with Urban Development and planning insights of Smart City concept, the Centre of Excellence in Urban Transport under CEPT University's CEPT Research & Development Foundation (CRDF) in association with Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) of the Pune Metro city has organised a capacity building workshop for elected representatives of PCMC.
A fresh batch of workshop will begin from November 1 to 3 and provide insight on detail planning through Local Area Plans and discussing cases of mega urban projects in Ahmedabad such as Sabarmati River front development, Kankaria Lake development, Sardar Patel Ring Road, BRTS project and Metrorail project.
First such batch was conducted during October 26-28. The theme of the workshop is "Making Planning Work for Urban Development". The program is designed to provide a new perspective of development focusing planning tools to achieve desired planning outcome and strategies for time bound implementation and resource mobilization. It would develop understanding of planning, implementation and policy support required in a holistic and comprehensive manner.
