Elections for 7 ULBs in Dakshina Kannada on March 7

Seven urban local bodies (ULBs) will go for polls in Dakshina Kannada district on March 7.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, N. Prakash, Deputy Commissioner of the district, said that elections will be conducted for Mangalore City Corporation;  Moodbidri, Ullal, Bantwal and Puttur Town Municipalities; and to Belthangady and Sullia Town Panchayats on March 7.

A formal notification for elections to ULBs in the district will be released on February 16. Counting of votes will be held on March 11.

Of the total 189 wards in different ULBs in the district, 60 are in Mangalore City Corporation limits. He said that around 3.12 lakh voters in Mangalore are eligible for voting. 

Harish Kumar, Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation, said that electronic voting machines would be used for polling this year.
