About 250 frontline workers in Coimbatore district are to benefit from ABT Group’s vitamin C formulation, Mirakle. The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department in the district has sought supply of Mirakle for 15 days to boost their immunity, said a top official of the company.
The formulation had been cleared for supply to Covid-19 patients at Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital and Omandurar Hospital in Chennai apart from being administered to the patients at the General Hospital in Cuddalore.
Test results revealed that the immunity-booster drink paved the way for faster recovery at a time when the country was still struggling to come up with a vaccine or anti-viral medication to fight the coronavirus disease.
“The request from the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department is post the conclusion of a research study on the ‘Role of High-dose Liposomal Oral Vitamin-C Treatment for Covid -19’ at a hospital here to prove the validity of the formulation,” said M Manickam, Chairman, ABT Group.
“We have decided to supply the drink for free to these workers. Many such workers suffer from nutritional insufficiencies due to various reasons. Mirakle would help boost their immunity levels.
“Frontline workers account for 10-15 per cent of the total Covid-19 positive cases in the State. Whether they are the healthcare workers or essential personnel in other sectors who are helping our communities stay afloat, they are putting their health at risk.”
