After receiving bail from the Gujarat High Court in a sedition case last week, Patidar reservation agitation leader Hardik Patel also got bail in a Visnagar rioting case on Monday that would allow him to come out of jail after nine months.

The Gujarat High Court on Monday granted bail to the 22-year old Patidar youth in the Visnagar rioting case, on the condition that he will not enter Mehsana for nine months.

Patel was accused in vandalism at an MLA's office in Visnagar, a town in Mehsana district during pro-reservation demonstrations last year.

Last week, the High Court had granted him bail in two sedition cases slapped by the State Government on the condition that he would have to stay out of Gujarat for six months.

However, the court further allowed Patel to appeal against its decision barring him from entering Mehsana only after completion of its earlier six-month ban order in the sedition case.

Patel was jailed in October last year after a Sedition case was filed against him. Patel, through his organisation, Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS), spearheaded the reservation agitation for socially, politically and financially powerful Patidar (Patel) community in the state.

Now that Patel has received bail in both separate cases against him, he is likely to be released from a Surat jail, where he has been incarcerated. However, he will have to leave Gujarat within 48 hours of his release.
