Industrialist B K Birla is unwell and had been taken to a Mumbai hospital from Kolkata last week.
Confirming that 94-year-old seniormost member of the Birla clan was admitted to a Mumbai hospital last week, S K Birla, his brother, told BusinessLine that B K Birla was not keeping well.
"He had fever and natural ailments associated with old age," he said.
Senior Birla’s medical issues were being taken care of at the Mumbai hostipital, he added without elaborating on his present condition.
The hospital sources said his condition was “better” and could be released later this week.
B K Birla, the youngest son of G D Birla and grandfather of Kumar Managalam Birla, is currently the Chairman of several companies, including Century Textiles and Industries Ltd, as also the head of premier educational institutions such as Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani and Birla Institute of Management Technology.
