Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has assured Andhra Pradesh of providing it the necessary funding for the multi-purpose Polavaram project and other key infrastructure projects.
The assurance came during a meeting between the Finance Minister and a delegation led by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu earlier today.
Naidu called on the Finance Minister to impress upon him the need to increase funding for Andhra Pradesh, which he contended was affected by the bifurcation of the state.
According to Y Sujana Chowdary, Union Minister, the Finance Minister assured Naidu and his team that the State would get all the funding assured by the Centre to complete the Polavaram project.
Naidu is stated to have raised the issue of funding to develop some industrial corridors and a high speed road network in the State to connect to the proposed capital city of Amaravati and sought the Centre’s funding to develop the infrastructure.
