Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today assured industries in the State that there would be no power cuts this summer from May.
"There could be some minor disruptions during March-end and the beginning of April, when agriculture load is at its peak. But from May, I assure all industries that there will be no power cuts. If you (industries) face a power cut from May, you can directly call me up on my toll-free number," he said at the first annual meeting of CII's Telangana chapter.
Rao said the State Government has chalked out short-term and long-term plans to ensure that the State achieved a "comfortable position" in regard to power supply by 2016 and became a power surplus State by end-2017.
The State, which has a thermal power production capacity of 4320 MW, plans to generate an additional 2359 MW by December 2015, including 600 MW each from Kakatiya Stage II and the first unit of Singareni Colleries.
By the end of 2018, the State will generate an additional 13,554 MW of thermal power, including 9,488 MW from the new unit proposed by Genco, NTPC, and Singareni.
