KT Rama Rao, senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader and son of party president K Chandrasekhar Rao, vowed to quit politics if his party is not voted back to power next month.
Daring the Congress to accept the challenge, he said the welfare and development schemes of the party will help them retain power.
“We came to power amid fears that Telangana-ites will not be able to govern themselves. We solved the power crisis in the State. The State’s revenues saw a growth rate of over 17 per cent. We stand first on several growth parameters in the country,” he said.
Meet-the-Press
Addressing the media at Meet-the-Press here on Thursday, he said he had no ambition to become the Chief Minister and he had never imagined becoming a Minister.
“I wish my father to continue as the Chief Minister for the next 15 years,” he said.
Replying to a question on choosing to go for early polls, Rama Rao said it was the discretion of the party in power that had won the people’s mandate.
He slammed TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, for his claims on the development of Hyderabad and his prediction on reverses for the TRS in the ensuing elections. “He never contested elections on his own. He always sided with different parties. Except the YSRCP, he forged alliances with all the political parties,” he said.
