The Maharashtra Government has decided to provide Rs 10 crore grant to 200 Madrassas across the State for the current fiscal. The funds would be utilised for improving basic infrastructure, honorarium to the teachers and scholarships to the students.
The State Cabinet gave the clearance based on the recommendations of the Justice Sachar Committee Report. The State has 1,889 Madrassas but 200 were selected based on criteria such as registration with State Government and date of establishment.
