The Mangalore-based College of Fisheries will host a conference on ‘Strategies for building the yield gap in fisheries and aquaculture’ in Mangalore on March 24-25.
A press statement by Shivakumar M, Organising Secretary of the conference, said here that C Vasudevappa, Vice-Chancellor of University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Shimoga, will inaugurate the seminar on March 24. Baskaran Manimaran, Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Fisheries University, and CK Murthy, Executive Director of National Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad, will speak on the occasion.
As part of the conference, a FISS (farmers-industry-scientists-students) Meet will be organised on March 25.
The objectives of FISS Meet are to understand the current issues bothering the fisheries sector and to measure the magnitude of challenges and opportunities in the sector.
The outcome of this meet will be circulated in the form of recommendations among all the fisheries colleges and research institutes to take up necessary steps, he said.
