Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has termed the amendments to AP Re-organisation to clear Polavaram project as undemocratic.
The Telangana JAC and some other groups have called for a State bandh tomorrow to protest against the amendment.
He appealed to the Union Government and the President of India to see to it that the design of the project is changed to minimise the submergence of tribal areas.
The State is in touch with the experts for legal opinion to take further course of action.
Expressing his dissatisfaction over passing of the Ordinance by Loksabha on Friday, he said the move violated the Article of 3 of the Constitution.
The amendment paves the way for transferring 211 villages in Khammam district to Andhra Pradesh that would submerge once the irrigation project is completed.
"It is unethical on the part of NDA Government to pass ordinance in this manner, just because it enjoys majority in the Lok Sabha," he said.
He felt that the Union Government should have taken into confidence the Telangana Government and should have obtained its consent before passing this Ordinance.
Telangana bandh tomorrow
The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TJAC) and Left parties have called for a State-wide bandh on Saturday, protesting against the amendment to the AP Re-organisation Act.
The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Congress party have announced support to the bandh.
The amendment was passed in the Lok Sabha today, clearing the way for transfer of 211 villages in Andhra Pradesh from Khammam district of Telangana.
Most of these villages will be submerged when the Polavaram project is completed.
