Seers and other Hindu leaders participating in a three-day ‘Dharma Sansad’ here on Friday stressed the need to construct a Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Delivering the keynote address, Mohan Bhagwat, chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), said the temple will be built at the birthplace of Lord Ram in Ayodhya, using the stones collected for that purpose.
Calling for utmost patience on the issue, he said that though the goal is very near, there is need for extra caution at this juncture.
Vishvesha Theertha, senior seer of the Pejavara Adhokshaja Math of Udupi, hoped that the construction of the temple will begin from 2019.
Pravin Togadia, leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, also insisted that the temple should be built at the birthplace of Lord Ram.
Threat of gau-rakshaksShivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswami of Suttur Math from Mysuru said the innumerable religious sects must sink their differences and come together for the purpose of unity, yet retaining their individual identity.
The biggest threat is from pseudo-religious groups that cause irreparable damage to the Hindu religion by their activities such as cow vigilantism and moral policing, he added.
The religious leaders also spoke on the need to protect cows and put an end to untouchability.
