Members of the Tirupur Exporters Association met the Commissioner of Central GST Commissionerate NJ Kumaresh here to seek clarity on the applicability of GST for each stage of job work activities.
After discussion, the commissioner clarified that till the stages of cut panel (knitting, dyeing, bleaching, rotary printing, raising, brushing and shearing, roll washing, compacting and fabric cutting) the GST rate is at 5 per cent and from the cut panel stage onwards, the GST rate fitment is at 18 per cent (chest embroidery, chest printing, sewing, garment washing, kaja/buttoning, hand embroidery, checking, ironing and packing), TEA President Raja M Shanmugham said.
