On a two-day Gujarat visit, the Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Friday reached out to fishermen in Porbandar district, raising issues of unemployment and neglect from the government.

"The fishermen keep saying that what a farmer does, they do the same. They demand a separate ministry to listen to their issues. If we form the government, we will form a separate ministry for fisheries," Rahul said, addressing a gathering in Porbandar.

Rahul continued his attack on the BJP government for supporting "a handful of industrial groups". "Farmers in the entire country are demanding a loan waiver. Last year, Narendra Modiji waived Rs 1.30 lakh crore of the top 10 industrialists in the country," Rahul stated.

During his two-day visit to the state, Rahul will address a series of rallies, public meetings, road shows and hold engagements with women, youth, farmers and labourers in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Mahisagar and Dahod districts.

Meanwhile, in a media interaction in Ahmedabad, BJP leader and Union Minister Nirmala Seetharaman, hit out at the Congress saying, "The Congress in the last 3-4 elections has been in Opposition. In 2012, they had 57 legislators out of 182. This shows that people have rejected you and do not trust you. You should have worked such that you emerge as a strong contender. Instead, you have now been reduced to 43," she said.
