The YouTube channel of Press Information Bureau, the official agency tasked with disseminating information about government’s policies and programmes, became inaccessible to viewers on Wednesday.
On Wednesday evening, videos uploaded by PIB India on its official and verified YouTube channel were not available to viewers in the country. When accessed, its YouTube channel displayed an error message stating, “This video contains content from Press Information Bureau. It is not available in your country.”
Usually, such a message is displayed when a video meant for a specific country is accessed by viewers from another country. Typically, this is used for protecting IP of content makers across geographies and masking or hiding regionally-sensitive content. As per government sources in the know, PIB has officially communicated to YouTube India to resolve this issue.
YouTube channel is an important platform for PIB to live-stream Cabinet briefings and other relevant announcements.
