The DST-Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth programme will hold a technology expo in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The winners will showcase their latest technologies and innovations as part of the event.

There will also be interactive meetings between the winning technology innovators and potential investors. Several commercialisation deals are expected to be signed, according to a press release.

The programme was launched in 2007 by the Lockheed Martin-FICCI and the IC2 Institute, University of Texas at Austin. Later the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Indo-US S&T Forum also joined. The Indo-US S&T Forum promotes several joint research projects between the two countries in cutting-edge technologies.

So far, the programme has received 2,000 applications. The objective is to focus on technology commercialistion strategies, venture formation, venture finance, marketing etc. So far, above 170 innovators have benefited and 150 agreements signed.

One of the major objectives of the programme is to accelerate Indian technologies into markets in the US and around the world. It is one of its kind initiative, essentially as it emphasises on teaching and using world-class commercialisation strategies, the release said.
