The State government has marginally increased the toll rates on the East Coast Road from Chennai to Mahabalipuram from April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019.
As per the revised rates, a single car journey from Akkarai to Mahabalipuram will cost ₹1 to ₹36 more, while the rates for light commercial vehicles will increase by ₹2 to ₹57. For truck/bus, the revised rates will be ₹104 as against ₹100, and for three-axle commercial vehicles it will be ₹129 as against ₹125, a government press release said.
For a return journey, the revised toll rate will be increased by ₹1 to ₹56 for cars; by ₹2 to ₹87 for LCV and by ₹4 for truck/bus to ₹154, the release said.
The last revision in the 132-km road from Uthandi after Chennai to Anumanthai just before Puducherry was effected on July 15, 2017 till March 31, 2018.
