Foreign tourist arrivals grew 9.6 per cent to 6.56 lakh in October 2014 compared to 5.98 lakh in the same month last year, a statement from the Ministry of Tourism said on Friday.
The percentage share of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in India during October 2014 showed that Bangladesh (14.15 per cent) led the list of the top 15 source countries, followed by the US (12.55 per cent), the UK (10.95 per cent), Sri Lanka (3.73 per cent), the Russian Federation (3.64 per cent), Canada (3.64 per cent), Germany (3.57 per cent), France (3.45 per cent), Japan (3.06 per cent), Australia (3.05 per cent), Malaysia (2.66 per cent), China (2.23 per cent), Pakistan (1.86 per cent), Thailand (1.81 per cent) and Nepal (1.79 per cent), the statement added.
Foreign exchange earnings grew 13.9 per cent to ₹9,847 crore in October 2014 compared to ₹8,645 crore in October 2013.
