Famous model and marathon runner Milind Soman flagged off the ‘Flash 5k run’ at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) campus to kick-off the B-school’s annual cultural festival - Unmaad 2014 - ‘Dil se Desi’.

The actor, model and entrepreneur posed for photographs with students, charmed the TV cameras and shared tips on running and fitness with a young and eager group of runners.

Describing running as an ‘out of body experience’, he said, “If you run regularly for 10-15 km, you get into the ‘zone’, which is like a meditative state. There is no confusion in your head, thoughts enter and leave and you let go of all your pent-up emotions. You reach a spiritual plane because you experience the freedom to control your body. It becomes so effortless that you breathe easily without panting. You are lifted from a regular state of being to a state that is much more relaxing.”

“At the age of 48 now, running has ensured that I haven’t grown old but have only turned ripe!” he added.

Soman has been running for over a decade now and has a record of 1,500 km across five states in 30 days to his credit. The made the run to spread the message about the need for a clean, green planet. Introducing the concept of the ‘Flash 5k run’, he suggested that schools and colleges in every town and city take it up to spread the message ‘Save Our Planet’.

The three-day-long cultural fest was one big party hosted by IIM-B where famous actor and performer Farhan Akhtar performed, and battle of bands and a fashion show also took place.
