India is perhaps pivoting towards a bold push for a more vibrant and distributive economy. Given the space to maintain a moderate interest rate regime, the RBI has taken the lead with a 50 basis point cut in repo rate. Credit guarantee schemes for MSMEs need hand-holding as they have the innate capacity to generate fresh employment. The initiatives of the RBI need to be buttressed by the government in accelerating private investment with a multi-pronged strategy to addresses structural bottlenecks and enhance investor confidence.

Secondary education

This refers to ‘Secondary education needs to improve’ (June 6). Secondary education today faces serious challenges — outdated curricula, rote learning, lack of trained teachers, poor infrastructure, and limited access in rural areas. To address this, the education system must shift focus from memorisation to practical learning. Curricula should be updated to include life skills, critical thinking, and vocational training.

Chenab Bridge project

This refers to ‘All about the world’s tallest rail bridge over Chenab’ (June 6). The foundation stone of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project was laid 28 years ago in 1997. At that time it was considered crazy to carve a train route through terrorist infested terrains. The train to Srinagar will go through 36 tunnels and 943 bridges, including the Chenab Bridge, and will reduce the Delhi-Srinagar train journey to under 13 hours. Kudos to each person involved in this milestone project, who overcame logistical challenges, terrorist attacks and landslides to see that this project sees the light of day one day.
