BHIVE Workspace, a co-working space in Bengaluru catering to over 150 ventures, has raised about ₹6.5 crore ($1 million) in funding led by Blume Ventures. BHIVE Workspace now operates from four locations covering 50,000 sq ft and has over 800 active members.
It will use the money to expand in Bengaluru and establish a presence in the top six cities in the country, attract top talent and build technology. The company offers a range of facilities and services to corporates, small businesses and freelancers, such as fully equipped workspace with facilities including Wi-Fi, UPS and generator back-up, an open office environment, events area, terrace garden, video conferencing, conference rooms and lounge.
ClearTax gets ₹13.5-cr funding
ClearTax, a Bengaluru-based fintech start-up, has raised ₹13.5 crore ($2 million) in a pre-Series A funding round. Sequoia Capital and Founders Fund Angel has each invested an equal amount. The venture recently raised $1.3 million in angel funding from Silicon Valley angels, including PayPal co-founder Max Levchin. ClearTax will use the money to introduce new products and to ramp up the team from 95 now to 300 over the next six months. ClearTax has over a million users who use it to electronically file their income-tax returns.
IAN invests in Roast
Roast, a Delhi-based entertainment mobile app, has got an undisclosed amount of funding from Indian Angel Network, a leading angel investment group. IAN has made the investment under the Small Ticket Funding Programme, which it announced last year. Under this programme, IAN offers a fixed investment amount of ₹25 lakh at a fixed valuation of ₹2.5 crore post investment. The company will use the money to acquire customers and invest in its technology platform.
