Syska’s smart lighting solutions have been around for a while, and are well-known because they are compatible with Amazon Alexa, and can hence be controlled by an Echo device. The company has now come out with the Smart Light, which is essentially an LED table lamp that can connect to your WiFi and hence be controlled by an app.

The Syska Smart Light looks like any regular LED table lamp, with a long flexible neck and a round base. After plugging in, a blue LED light turns on and the lamp can be used. The base has light touch controls with which one can switch it on and off, control the brightness, and switch to reading and night modes.

This operation in itself is pretty convenient, but users can also download the Syska Smart Home app and follow the instructions to connect the lamp to the WiFi network. Once that is done, users can control the lamp and its functions and brightness using the app.

Since it is Alexa-enabled, you can use the app to connect it to your Echo product and control it with voice commands. My Echo Dot was set up in the same room and worked easily enough. Do note that the lamp and the Echo device need to be connected to the same WiFI network, in case you have multiple ones.

The app also said it is compatible with Google Assistant, but I could not review that bit as I don’t have a Google Home device, but it should work similarly there as well. The lamp gives off a very bright light and can easily illuminate a large desk or a table. I found it most suitable on my bedside table for night reading as it has a special reading mode.

It can also be used like a nightlamp as it has a warm yellow-ish hue that is easy on the eye. The lamp costs ₹3,699 but is available online on some sites for less than ₹3,000.
