The NTPC Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Arup Roy Choudhury, met the Coal Minister, Mr Sriprakash Jaiswal, and asked for re-allocation of three blocks that were de-allocated by the Ministry.
“The Minister said the orders (for re-allocation) are on their way,” said Mr Choudhury. The three blocks are Kerandari and Chatti-Bariatu I&II.
“I am told that Coal India is increasing output by 8.5-9 per cent, which means one-third of that coal would come to NTPC. As of now, the coal linkages that we have will allow us to add capacity of 14,500 MW for the 12th Five-Year Plan,” added Mr Choudhury.
