While hospitality services management chain Accor is upbeat on business prospects in India expanding its network effectively doubling the number of properties it has within the next two years, it has quietly designed an innovative project which seeks to customise some select properties to suit to Indian visitors and their taste buds in Australia.

So visitors down under will be able to have cuisine of choice all of it vegetarian if they would like to have. Not surprisingly, idli, poha, upma and even dosa will be offered in these properties in select cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

Mr. Bernie Schulz, General Manager—Pacific Eastern Hemisphere, Accor Hospitality, said that the hospitality chain, which has more than 150 properties under management in Australia alone, has taken up 15 properties as a pilot phase customising various aspects for Indian visitors.

"Often such changes are observed very keenly by the competition both critically and also to see how it works. However, we believe this is the way forward. In fact, what we do here is keenly tracked. Perhaps, others will follow. When we introduced Indian menu, locals too have begun to savour them," he said. "Ms. Kate Marshall, Business development manager-Liesure, Accor, has worked along with me to design and develop Accredited Optimum Standards for the Indian guests," Mr. Schulz said.

The Indian market is one of the most promising for Australia’s tourism future and so is essential that we provide the highest possible level facilities and service when they visit Australia, he felt. "India and China are top on Accor agenda. A visitor will be able to have best of Indian TV channels, get Indian newspaper, rice items and masala chai too," he said.
