Bafna Exports, a Pune-based manufacturer of notebooks, is setting up a new unit in Ahmedabad to make notebooks for children. This will become operational by July, Praful Bafna, Managing Director, Bafna Exports said, adding the current production capacity of four crore notebooks would be doubled by the year-end.
The flagship company of the Bafna Group notched up a turnover of Rs 80 crore last fiscal, 20 per cent of which came from exports, and currently has manufacturing units in Pune and Assam. All the paper used to make notebooks is made from agro-waste.
The company, which markets notebooks under the Saniya brand, has also inked a tie-up with Disney Worldwide to release Disney character themed notebooks for school children this season. The agreement is valid for one year.
Bafna Exports has signed distribution agreements in Delhi-NCR, Maharashtra, Assam, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Gujarat, and is in the process of adding Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh to the network.
