Indian box office grossed ₹1136 crore in May, led by Hindi flick Raid-2 and Hollywood film Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning. The cumulative box office for January-May period stands at ₹4,812 crore, which is 27 per cent higher than the same period in 2024, the latest estimates by Ormax Media stated. It was also a month when Hollywood content shined at the box office.
“May 2025 turned out to be the second-best month of the year so far at the India box office (just behind February), grossing ₹1,136 crore, including projected future collections of May releases still running in theatres,” the report noted.
Raid 2, starring Ajay Devgn, has emerged as the top film of the month, grossing over ₹200 crore (including projected collections, as the film is still running in some theatres). Meanwhile, Tom Cruise starrer Mission: Impossible-The Final Reckoning grossed over ₹115 crore. The two movies accounted for 28 per cent of May’s box office revenues.
“With three Hollywood films in this month’s Top 10 highest-grossing films------Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,Final Destination Bloodlines, and Thunderbolts, May 2025 has turned out to be a strongest month for Hollywood in India since July 2023 (the Oppenheimer-Barbie month), grossing ₹262 crore,” the report added.
