Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP), a SAIL unit, registered hot metal production of 1,85,037 tonnes in June, up 8 per cent over the corresponding month last year.
Crude steel output at 1,66,805 tonnes was also 8 per cent higher and saleable steel output at 1,62,003 tonnes was up 10 per cent.
According to Mr P.K. Singh, CEO of Durgapur Steel Plant, production of special quality and value-added products was 77 per cent of saleable steel, a growth of 14 per cent.
In April-June quarter, special and value-added items contributed 80 per cent of the total saleable steel of the plant, which was a 23 per cent improvement over Q1 of FY2011.
