Carmaker Ford on Monday unveiled the Ford Figo Concept, a compact sedan for the global B segment, ahead of the Auto Expo 2014 in New Delhi.
The sedan, which is less than 4 metres long, was unveiled without any announcement of when it is expected to hit the market.
The Concept is the company’s vision for an all-new global compact car which will offer advanced technology and clever design.
Ford India President Nigel Harris said, “Consumers expect and demand great fuel efficiency and low cost-of-ownership from the initial price throughout the life of the vehicle. The Ford Figo Concept offers all of this, and more, with sophistication, fresh design, world-class quality, a roomy interior, and innovative smear and safe technology.”
The car offers an innovative device dock to store, mount and charge devices such as mobile phones, MP3 players and satellite navigation systems, integrating them into the in-car entertainment system. It also boasts of electrically adjustable power-fold mirrors.
The compact sedan segment, which comprised almost a third of total sales in 2013, is India’s most competitive segment. Ford expects compact car sales in India to grow from about 1 million units last year to roughly 2 million units in 2018.
