Godrej Interio will soon set up a manufacturing facility in the South and large format stores across the country.

The company is looking for space in Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to set up the facility. This will be its first facility in the South and seventh in the country.

After launching the large format store in Mumbai, the interiors arm of the diversified Godrej group is now in the process of setting up such stores in Bangalore and Hyderabad. It then would look at other top cities to expand the network.

The interiors arm registered a turnover of Rs 2,000 crore, with Rs 700 crore coming from the home furnishing segment.

“We are seeing good opportunity in the hospital sector. We have just done two projects for Kirloskars and for a Japanese hospital firm. We are looking at a growth rate of 25 per cent,” Anil Mathur, Chief Operating Officer of Godrej Interio, told BusinessLine here on Friday.

Excluding the land cost, the company would invest Rs 20 crore in the manufacturing facility.

Virtual facility

Mathur was here in connection with the nationwide ‘Upload and transform’ campaign that aims at providing a virtual experience to the customers. Film actor Sonu Sood joined the campaign, explaining how he had used the Upload and Transform facility to redo the furnishing at his home.

Anil Mathur said the virtual facility would enhance the customer experience by giving them an opportunity to visualise how different furnishing items would like.

“Generally, they come to the store and buy something going by the looks. But it might not fit well in their homes. They can upload the pictures of their homes and see how a particular furnishing item would look like,” he said.
