Korean auto major Hyundai has posted record sales of over 4.1 lakh units in India in 2014, a growth of over 7.5 per cent riding on new launches, including compact sedan Xcent and premium hatchback Elite i20.
According to a company statement, in 2013, HMIL had sold 3.8 lakh units in the domestic market.
Commenting on the company’s performance, HMIL Managing Director and CEO BS Seo said: “We surpassed our targets of selling 4 lakh vehicles in the domestic market by adding new products like Xcent, Elite i20 and Santa Fe to our robust product portfolio.”
During the year, global debuts of models in India played an important role in the market for Hyundai Motor Co, the statement added.
Looking ahead, Seo said: “We intend to continue our growth in 2015 and with new products coming next year, we will create the right conditions to reinforce our claim to leadership over the long-term.”
