Linkedin is hosting its second edition of Wintathon, a hackathon exclusively for women coders, in Bengaluru on Saturday and Sunday.

During the event, 56 participants chosen from the initial round test conducted by technology-based recruiting platform HackerRank will build products or prototypes themes based on mobile apps or machine learning.

The hackathon, initiated in 2016, is open to 3rd and final-year Engineering and B.Tech graduates as well as first-year M.Tech students.

Apart from cash prizes of ₹100,000, ₹75,000 and ₹50,000 for the first three spots respectively, the winning team will also qualify for a summer internship with the social media giant.

According to a LinkedIn organiser, Senior Product Manager Saurabh Agarwal, Software engineering Manager Vamsee Vanaparthy, Senior Manager - Data science Raghu Y, Senior Engineering Manager Sachin Kakkar and Susan Mathew, Senior Manager - Human Resources, will be the judges.

Earlier, HackerRank’s analysis of data on more than two million developers in its platform revealed that although women constituted only 17 per cent of total coders tackling challenges in its platform, India led the pack with the highest percentage of women coders at 22 per cent.
