Top luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz has reported its best-ever third quarter sales in a calendar year during July-September 2017 period.

The company has clocked 41 per cent growth in its luxury car sales at 4,698 units during September quarter of this year when compared with 3,327 units in the year-ago quarter.

It has also reported record volumes for the nine-month period ended on September 30, 2017. Total sales grew 20 per cent to 11,869 units when compared with 9,924 units in the year-ago period.

The first three quarter volumes were higher than its entire 2014 volumes of 10,201 units. In 2016, the company’s total volumes stood at 13,231 units.

“We firmly continue with our leadership position in the Indian luxury car market by clocking our ‘best ever’ sales results. This growth story is a direct result of our strong customer-focused strategy, which has been bearing fruit,” said Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

Unprecedented demand for the long wheelbase E-Class sedan, in particular, has contributed immensely to its sales growth.

“All our products across segments were highly appreciated by the customers resulting in a steady growth across the NGCs (new generation cars), sedans, SUVs and the AMG cars,” he added.

Luxury SUV segment grew strongly and reported a robust growth in the January-September 2017 period. SUV growth was followed by the sedan segment which also grew strongly during the period.

Long wheelbase E-Class Sedan remained the single highest selling model for Mercedes-Benz in 2017, followed closely by the C-Class sedan. Launch of the E 220 d also helped cater to the increasing demand of this segment. Its GLC emerged as the highest selling SUV in the portfolio, closely followed by the GLE.

The company had launched 10 products during the first three quarters of 2017 and a few more new products are expected to come before December.
