Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd (MIDHANI) has achieved a sales turnover of Rs 522 crore for the fiscal 2011-12. Last year its turnover was Rs 460 crore.
The mini-ratna defence public sector undertaking logged a profit before tax of Rs 90 crore as per provisional results. The company has an order-book of Rs 1,000 crore.
The Chairman and Managing Director, Mr M. Narayana Rao, said the company tripled its sales turnover from Rs 125 crore after its turnaround in 2003-04.
Midhani primarily makes key materials from the strategic sectors of defence, space and nuclear and also to general engineering industries. The Hyderabad-based company is also into developing and manufacturing a wide range of low-cost titanium bio-medical implants, a release said today.
The company is on a modernisation-cum-upgradation programme partly funded by strategic customers and internal resources to meet the hi-tech special materials requirements of the department of space, nuclear and defence, he said in a press release.
