The mood was upbeat at Ampere, an electric vehicle start-up in Coimbatore, as news that Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons had made an undisclosed investment in this company.
A jubiliant Hemalatha Annamalai, the brain behind this venture told Business Line that the company has lot of things to do now.
"After two years of struggle, this definitely is something to cheer about, but then, we have a long way to go," she said hurriedly, preparing to leave for the inauguration of 2 - 3 showrooms in the city today.
Ampere will use the funds to scale up operations and hire talent, was all she said, promising to talk later in the day.
As news went viral (aboout Ratan Tata's investment in a Coimbatore-based company) excitement filled the air not just at Ampere, but across the city.
The founder CEO of Ampere was recognised for the CII Regional Emerging Entrepreneur Award earlier this year.
