A consortium of Soma Infra-China Gezhouba Group Company has been chosen as the lowest price bidder (L1) for the Indira Sagar Polavaram project tender which opened today.
Soma-CGGC consortium has outbid the L2 consortium of SEW Infra-Patel Constructions.
Others in the fray include Gammon-Chirkey Gesstroy (Russia)-AMR joint venture, IVRCL-Farab (Iran), Madhucon-Sinohydro (China) and Transstroy (India)-JSC Engineering Center (Russia).
The bids will further be scrutinised by a high-powered committee, consisting of experts, and headed by the State Chief Secretary, Ms Minnie Mathew.
Soma consortium offered a tender price of Rs 4,599.99 crore and the SEW consortium Rs 4,653.99 crore. These were against Government’s project estimate of Rs 4,717 crore.
The last time tenders were called, SEW Construction had won. However, the tender process was cancelled and a re-tender was announced.
The financial bids of the four consortia were found to be lacking in some of the mandatory requirements.
After evaluation by an expert committee headed by Ms Minnie Mathew, the State Government approval would be taken before awarding the contract.
