Milagrow Business Solutions, which launched 8-inch tablet computers Tab Top in October in the price band of Rs 25,000 (16 GB) to Rs 30,000 (32 GB) targeting professionals, will launch a slew of models in January, straddling a price band of Rs 14,000 to Rs 36,000.

The brand claims to have sold over 300 units (to end customers) so far, and shipped around 1,000 units to retailers.

The new range will stay true to the promises of performance and value-for-money, and the final pricing would depend on which way the rupee sways against the dollar, explained Mr Rajeev Karwal, Founder and CEO, Milagrow.

Speaking to Business Line , he said, “The product has been received extremely well and we have been pleasantly surprised. On Letsbuy.com and Flipkart.com, we are selling three to four units per day, and we have barely started advertising. This shows that the market is ready to accept a product if it resolves their problem.”

The new range will feature genuine design variants and will give Tab Top the ‘largest range among all tablets in India', he added.

Milagrow has earmarked an advertising budget of Rs 15 crore to promote Tab Top. Building on the campaign, ads in local newspapers will follow in March, in tune with the distribution expansion, followed by television commercials around August, said the CEO.

The company is ramping up its online and offline sales channels. Online, Tab Top will be available on Yebhi.com shortly.

In stores, the brand is available at retailers such as Vijay Sales and Vivek & Co., and will be available at Reliance Digital in ‘a week or so.'

From its 11-city presence, the brand will expand to retail outlets in Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Ludhiana by the end of the year.

“By the end of next year, we should be present pan-India offline as well, in around 35 cities. Given the category, we are particular about the kind of stores we are present in, ensuring sales staff can cater to the information needs of customers,” added Mr Karwal.

Milagrow expects online sales to continue to contribute 30 per cent of sales till at least mid-2012.
