The opening of the supposedly laden sixth vault at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple shall incur the displeasure of the presiding deity, findings of a four-day-long ‘Devaprasnam’ that ended here on Thursday suggested.

The ‘Devaprasnam’ is a set of elaborate astrological proceedings carried out by an expert team of theologians to ascertain the ‘disposition of God’ to temple rituals, ceremonies and services, among others.

SPECIAL TEAM

The opening of five other vaults in this manner at the instance of the Supreme Court earlier was found to have not gone down well with the ‘will of the presiding deity.’

The finding comes at a time when another special court-appointed committee has just about begun its work to decide on the security and preservation of the invaluable articles found inside the already opened vaults.

The riches found in the temple’s underground vaults belonged but to the presiding deity alone. They should not be moved, put on public display, assessed for value nor photographed.

The unopened vault had deep mystical bonding with the halo associated with the presence of the deity and should not be violated in any manner, astrologers Narayana Ranga Bhatt and Padmanabha Sharma told newspersons here.

PRE-DATING TEMPLE

They also found that the idol of the deity of another temple that pre-dated the Padmanabhaswamy Temple had been installed inside the unopened vault, marked ‘B,’ which has hardly lost none of its celestial aura.

The opening of this vault could bring into play bad omens for the people and for the land on which the temple stands, the astrologers explained.

This vault was found to have an underground link with the sanctum sanctorum of the Temple. Far from being any receptacle of worldly riches, it is an abode of divinity personified.

TEMPLE STAFF

The ‘Devaprasnam’ found many instances of personal misdemeanours, behavioural transgressions and other offences at the hands of the temple staff and their entourage, which may have collectively corrupted the delicately holy ambience inside the temple complex.

In this connection, the astrologers have also listed a series of acts of atonement and reparation to restore the divine ambience about the temple.
