Google’s search trend analysis during the past three months has found Lonavala to be the most searched tourist destination in Maharashtra this monsoon season.
The hill station that lies between Mumbai and Pune is known for its scenic beauty. The nearby Bhushi Dam was also rated most searched.
Searches were highest during the weekends, with many people showing a preference for booking bungalows and resorts, a statement said.
Mahabaleshwar, the summer capital of the erstwhile Bombay Presidency, remains the second most popular destination in this category, followed by Matheran, Ratnagiri and Alibag.
Another interesting insight reflected in the search trends is that people travelling via Konkan stopped at Ratnagiri to explore the place, as searches from Kolhapur for Ratnagiri were the highest from a regional trend perspective in India, followed by Gujarat.
