Domestic airlines flew 60.22 lakh passengers in May, a 5.46 per cent increase over the 57.10 lakh passengers carried by the airlines in the same period last year, data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation show.

Airline break-up IndiGo airlines which flew 19.08 lakh passengers in May continued to be the market leader followed by Air India at 11.22 lakh passengers and SpiceJet (10.80 lakh passengers).

Jet Airways carried 10.29 lakh passengers while its low cost arm JetLite carried 2.32 lakh passengers in May.
