India has become the second largest producer of castings, next only to China by producing 7.443 million tonnes of castings in 2009.
According to a release from Mr C R Swaminathan, former Chairman of Indian Institute of Foundrymen, who owns a foundry here, the figure of production by volume was known from the World Casting Census for 2009.
India has pushed US and Japan to third place, which were producing 4.3 million tonnes of castings annually, Mr Swaminathan said. - PTI
