The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), a body overseeing the activities of the Pashupati temple, is organising a global summit along with India next March.

The three-day long summit, to be held in the Nepal Capital, is an initiative taken by the trust of the world famous Shiva temple to promote Hindu culture and history in countries having Hindu temples and heritage. It will also discuss ways to help restore several sites and temples.

This global convention would also focus on key topics such as security, financial and infrastructure management, online presence and promotions and revenue generation through specialised products, said Sushil Nahata, Member Secretary, PADT. He was addressing an 11-member delegation from Mumbai Press Club, which visited the Nepal last week.

“There are several historical temples in Bangladesh which are in a dilapidated condition and this convention will focus on how to restore these temples. I admire Indian Government’s effort in restoring the Angkor Vat temple in Cambodia,” he said.

India undertook restoration work at Angkor Vat from 1986 till 1993. The second phase of work will be complete in 2014. The convention is expected to witness the presence of CEOs and chief functionaries of around 100 major trusts from India, Nepal, Bali, UK, USA, Trinidad, Mauritius, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

PADT has made the famous Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai as its counterpart to help foster ties between the various Hindu temple administrations. The Siddhivinayak temple administration had organised a similar event in 2005.
